Lidia Jimeno brought plantains into the conversation and Pedro wanted no part of it.
At what was supposed to be a casual outdoor gathering, Lidia Jimeno got loud, brought up eggs and salami, and then landed on the word plantain. Sophie Sierra had no idea what was happening. Pedro Jimeno absolutely did.
Anyone who watched The Family Chantel knows Lidia has zero filter when it comes to Pedro's love life. Pedro and Chantel divorced in 2022, and he's now with Sophie Sierra on The Single Life Season 5.
The scene, posted to Instagram, shows Lidia speaking animatedly in Spanish at what appears to be a party in the Dominican Republic. Pedro had brought Sophie to the D.R. For his sister's birthday trip, and Sophie had turned it into something of a girls trip, bringing along Liz Woods and Julia Trubkina. Lidia, apparently, had thoughts.
Lidia told Sophie she needed to try a Dominican man, then mentioned eggs and salami. Sophie, visibly confused, repeated back: "The eggs?" Lidia doubled down: "Plátano!" Sophie heard the word and processed it as a food. Pedro had already checked out of the conversation. "What the hell? That's weird," he said, pulling them away from the table.
Once they were clear, Sophie asked Pedro to translate. She told him she'd caught "banana" and "eggs" and genuinely wasn't sure what his mother had been going for. Pedro explained it. His mother had been publicly suggesting that Sophie wasn't fully committed to him because he hadn't been intimate with her yet. The plantain was not about food.
In his confessional, Pedro didn't try to play it off. "That's embarrassing, bro," he said, laughing and covering his face. He repeated what Lidia had basically announced to the whole party: "The reason why Sophie is not commit to you because you not have him give you some plantains.
Lidia did the exact same thing to Chantel for years. New girlfriend, same playbook
